Be Found Ladies’ Ministry gathered January 30, 2026 to create Vision Boards for the upcoming year. It was a beautiful night full of hope, laughter, reflection on the year before, and prayers for the year to come. Lex Doyle led the group through the practice of creating a Vision Board with this scripture as the foundation:
Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. Habakkuk 2:2 (NIV)
Lex led the group of ladies that night into an understanding that the revelation, or vision, discussed in this scripture wasn’t about what the people were seeing or experiencing in the earthly world around them but about things not yet physically visible. Hopefully every person seeing this has dreams or goals for their life, things you are striving for. But what if vision was even more than that?

The Hebrew word for Vision is hazon (khah-ZOHN), which points to divine revelation by God to His children. This vision is insight to the character of God, clarity for our human minds to grasp a fraction of the magnitude of that truth, and direction for our future. This biblical understanding of vision is much more than hope or wishful thinking. Biblical Vision changes how you see the world around you, as you begin to filter everything through God’s promises. Now, this is not a superpower that takes all the “bad” out of the picture – life is still heavy sometimes. However, it is the opportunity in tough times to find stability and direction in God’s Promises that never fail.
The Be Found Ladies’ event was 90 minutes of intentionally adjusting our vision to God’s Promises, as a way to start 2026 with a new perspective. Just 39 days after this Be Found Ladies’ event, our church and community at large were devastated by a storm and tornado. A 90-minute storm that easily could, and for a time did, derail the 90 minutes of intentionality just a little over a month prior. The destruction across Kankakee County is heavy and there is still so much recovery to come, even months later. However, we have also seen people come together in ways that reflect community in the purest form. From restaurants and bars being open as supply drop offs in the middle of the most devastated areas, to churches and school buildings being used as gathering places for displaced residents and emergency responders. Kankakee County stepped up.
A hard truth? Real Life Church will not look the same as it did before March 10, 2026. With our physical building being destroyed, we are in a season of limbo that no one could have anticipated at the beginning of the year. This season involves mourning what was lost in the physical space that Real Life Church has called home for over a decade. Yet, this is also a season of anticipation. When we look back to the 90 minutes of intentionality of January 30th, we are reminded that it wasn’t about goals and dreams for the year. Setting VISION for 2026 was about having faith to believe what God has promised.
When Job lost everything, he replied to the Lord, “I know that You can do all things; no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.” (Job 42:2 NIV). God’s response to job’s faith was not giving him his old life back. God’s promise to Job wasn’t simply restoration, it was redemption. Scripture says that the Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part!
Real Life Church family, the best is yet to come. It will not look like it did before and we cannot plan our way into His promises but He will not leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). What God has built over the last decade was always more than a building – it was HIS KINGDOM COME IN KANKAKEE AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.
As we start our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, I want to end this reflection as an opportunity to step into VISION for the next season of life. This prayer in scripture is the same one Lex spoke over the ladies at their event months ago. Your situation may not reflect the dreams or goals you established at the beginning of the year but there is complete confidence that God’s VISION for your life has not waivered.
“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21
